What a great piece. Two masked men "...secreted themselves on the tender of the Oriental Limited, Great Northern Railway Company" on September 12, 1907. They "crawled over the tender into the engine cab and with revolver, 'held up' the engineer and fireman." They blew up the safe in the express car, but found nothing of value so they stole four packages of mail. Includes a description of the men. Reward was $6,000. Two full pages of amazing history.

So, did they get away with the $40,000 they stole. No! They lead robber, George Frankhuaser was arrested and escaped and arrested and sentenced to life imprisonment. A few people claimed the reward. The court ordered that they did not fulfill any of the obligations to earn the reward. It did go further, so we are not sure how it ended! ["The Northwestern Reporter, Volume 129", p134]. Rip at folds and discoloration at edges. HWAC# 60968 Date: 1907 Location: Rondo, Flathead County, Montana
