1) # 2025 for $500 to Edward Hall. Signed by Commissioner Charles DeMorse. Vignettes include allegorical seamen, Texas star and semi nude allegorical lady. 2) $100 issued to Charles DeMorse. Signed by David LeBusuet(?) president. Vignettes include cattle, steamship and working man. The Commissioner tasked with funding the republic's mounting public debt. Endorsed on back. Demorse was an editor, publisher, statesman, soldier, public official, lawyer, merchant, and farmer. In 1836 he fought with the Texas army. In 1862 he was a colonel of the 29th Cavalry. He was the commanding officer at Poison Springs where a federal advance was stopped. He was first mayor of Clarksville. All have multiple cut cancellations and some tears and folding bottom right.
