Designed by Robert Scot; reeded edge; 25 mm; 8.75 grams; mintage 8,707; 91.7% gold, 8.3% copper. Exceptionally rare; Bowers notes that the mintage of these coins didn't come without technical manufacturing troubles. He noted at least nine different reverse dies including one with a crucial misspelling. There are no prominent scratches on this coin, it may refer to a circulation mark on the reverse near the "N".
