Important second edition of the first Geologic Map of America by William McClure, 1818. This important work was published in the transactions of the American Philosophical Society at Philadelphia. This volume is entitled volume one – new series, 1818. This volume of transactions has been expertly bound for preservation. Nick Laura's map was removed for framing and is now placed back in this volume. The map his hand colored has minor splits along some fold edges and otherwise is in remarkable condition. It contains a few original pencil notes for the colorist. This map is an incredibly important historical record of the beginning of geologic mapping in America.
