19 pages. "Report of the Trustees to the Stockholder of the Lake Superior Copper Company on the Copper and Silver of Kewenaw Point, Lake Superior" by C.T. Jackson of Boston. Fascinating start to this report: "The loss of the brig "Astor," in the fall of 1844, delayed the transportation of provisions and supplies, subjected the Company to additional expense, exposed Col. Gratiot and other person employed to sever service in getting up the supplies, and came near breaking up winter's work. These difficulties, however, were surmounted..." Given the remote location of the mine, we can imagine how the loss of a supply ship could be disastrous! First 9 pages are report to stockholders; remaining pages are "On the Copper and Silver of Kewenaw Point, Lake Superior" by C.T. Jackson (From Silliman's Journal). Rebound. 8.5" x 5.5" City: Lake Superior State: Michigan Date: ID# 34817
