Dated June 16th, 1853, Fort Ewell, Texas. For 1,003 bushels of corn. Signed by C. Monroe. United State Army form. Folds, 10 x 8" Ft. Ewell was established in 1852. Located approximately 25 miles Southeast of the present town of Cotulla on the South bank of the Nueces River at the point where it was crossed by the old San Antonio-Laredo Road.
