This is a model 1861 Springfield musket that has survived the Civil War. The stock is a three band length without any visible cartouche marks and heavily patinated from storage over the fireplace. The lock is marked "1862 U.S. Springfield " including the Eagle in the center of the lock and fully functional and it wears a C shape hammer. A tulip head ramrod is present with the gun.
