Located in Acton Vale, Bagot County, Canada East on the line of the Grand Trunk Railway leading from Portland to Montreal. Discovered in 1859. Ore consists mostly of variegated sulphuret of copper ("horse-flesh" and "peacock ore") located within bed of dolomitic limestone interposed between beds of slate or shale. No exploring shafts or pits have been sunk; all surface explorations. Recommendations include using Cornish methods. Notes of the workers that "these men, directed by an able Cornish captain, are found to be perfectly teachable, and are remarkably docile and cheerful laborers." Missing covers. Vertical fold.
