The tax is actually for 800 feet of iron pipe on the Buckeye Claim which was 2 1/2 miles southeast of Placerville. The value was estimated at $300.00. J Ross Browne reported in 1868 that on "the Buckeye claim the face of the hill is being piped away to make room for a cement mill."
