Mayor's Deed to Lots in Boise City, Idaho Territory, 1871. The US Congress in 1870 did give and grant unto the… mayor of Boise City, in trust, for the several use and benefit of the occupants of the town site of Boise City. A year later the Idaho Territorial Legislature did provide by law, for the disposal of said lands, comprising the town site of said Boise City, by the mayor of said Boise City. This is a somewhat generic "Mayor's Deed" where the mayor's office just needed to put in the buyer, the amount and the city lots purchased. In this case George Cannon bought lot number 5 in block number 42 and the east half of lot number 3 in block number 2 for the sum of $10. An amazing story of the early settlement of a major American city. 50 cent blue revenue stamp. Folds. 14 x 8.5"
