Rare handwritten Abstract of Statement, Quarterly Assessment of the Proceeds of the Mines of several Counties in Nevada, ending March 31st, 1873 (right at the time of the Big Bonanza discovery in Virginia City!). Lists 8 counties including Elko, Esmeralda, Humboldt, Lincoln, Lander, Nye, Storey, and White Pine, as well as proceeds from tailings in Storey, Humboldt, Lincoln, Lyon, White Pine, and Washoe Counties. Notes tons of ore extracted, value, and total taxes paid. This is the primary source material used by Couch and Carpenter in their Nevada's Metal and Mineral Production of 1943. Biggest producer listed is Storey County, with 110,000 tons of ore (probably driven by the Crown Point and Belcher), followed by Lyon and then Lincoln. Total tax collected was over $70,000. Document is 18 x 23" Folds, clean. This is firsthand mining data that should be treasured by our Nevada mining collectors and historians.
