Fantastic Lake Tahoe history! Early stock number 15, issued to AW Pray, who in 1860, founded Glenbrook, Nevada on the east shore of Lake Tahoe when he built the first saw mill there. His lumber business helped build the mines on the Comstock Lode. An important Tahoe pioneer. Signed by Pray on the reverse (see pictures) and George Tufly as president and Geo. B. Hill as cashier. Eagle vignette and attractive gilt design. Printed: Krebs Lithographing Co. Cincinnati. 8.25 x 14" This bank was incorporated in 1875. There was a huge need for banking in Carson City, NV after the opening of the Carson City Mint in 1869. Renamed Bullion and Exchange Bank in 1882. Following decline in mining and reductions in development, bank was restructured into the State Bank and Trust Co in 1903. Failed by 1907
