Letter is written from Portland, August 18th, 1876. Addressed to J.C. Ms. Bro. in San Francisco. Written by CH Meussdorffer to his brother. Letter is mostly business related regarding drafts and payments, but he does mention he is enlarging his house. J.C. Meussdorffer was "the pioneer hatter of San Francisco." He arrived in San Francisco in the early days of the Gold Rush in Sept. 1849. The family stayed in the hatting business in San Francisco for many years based on directory listings. The J.C.
