15 pages. "Reports on the Steel Gold Mine, Montgomery County, North Carolina" by Dr. Charles T. Jackson, Prof. Frederick A. Genth, Prof. E. Hausser, and Dr. W.H. Keener. Jackson, assayer for the state of Massachusetts, notes how he was "surprised at its richness in gold, the proportions of which in the vein stone exceeded by far any that [he] had seen in the state." Only one shaft had been sunk at the time of his report. As with other North Carolina gold, the vein is contained in slate. Please inspect for more details from the other authors. Printed by Art Printing Establishment, New York. Rebound softcover. Condition: vertical fold, soiling and foxing. Stamped New York State Library Albany.
