Handwritten manuscript outlining the mining laws set down by mine owners in the Spring Valley section of the Prospect Mountain Mining District. The document states that the meeting, noticed in the Eureka Sentinel on May 24, was held 27 May and at the cabin of E.H. Rose Esq. Some crease folds, but the writing is sharp and clear. Nice condition for its age. Reading the mining laws it states that the mine owners of the Spring Valley Mining District had called for a meeting and had renamed it the Prospect Mountain Mining District. But why were they writing laws in 1880? This district was indeed established by 1865. The paper explains the reason for the 1880 laws. “...the [original] books having been destroyed in the great fire which occurred in the Town of Eureka on April 18th 1879.”
