Small pocket diary, published by Bancroft. An interesting feature of the printed part is a 4pp list of upcoming Chinese festivals!

This daily diary is split into two parts: a diary, and an account book in the back. It allowed for eleven line entries for each day, which were dutifully filled in by the writer each day. The writer is a woman, living (rooming) with a companion (Carrie) in San Francisco. She is a seamstress, possibly a professional one, as the account book lists far more than a simple home seamstress would need, such as 30 hats, collars, fans and so forth would indicate. She is very active, attending church services, sermons and some public events. She also traveled a lot. There are many and frequent entries for street car fares, long distance travel to Sacramento ($2), Stockton, Tahoe, etc. This active woman often lists the names of her friends she is visiting, or doing business with, such as Mrs. Polhemus (of Sacramento Drugstore business). There is a very nice, yet short discussion of a trip to Truckee, then along the Truckee River by Stage to Tahoe, and a multi-day visit to the region. One of her Sacramento visits was as a delegate to the state convention (couldn’t figure this one out with Cal digital newspapers).

This is a very interesting diary with lots of content.
