April 12th, 1889. Message from Clark to the Continental Divide Bank in Salida regarding checks. 10.5 x 8" Folds, punch holes, small tears. The Horseshoe Saloon was twenty-five by fifty feet and contained a pool table and five round tables for gambling and was one of the centers of attraction in the camp in 1883. White Pine is now a ghost town in Gunnison County. It was a silver mining camp that started in 1878. By 1883, there were a 1,000 miners in the camp. The town was largely abandoned after the Silver Panic of 1893. The area also had problems with avalanches.
