Dateline Cherry Creek, Nev. July 26th, 1892. Addressed to W.B. Lawlor, esq., in Ruby Hill. Letter written by Oscar Bates. Bates describes how in 1873, he took out 6 1/2 tons of ore from the Look Out Mine. He states: "I have always wished to see some parties who had the necessary amount of capital take control of the mines at Ruby as I know it will prove to be one of the best mining camps in the state." He adds: "I would move to Ruby Hill tomorrow if I knew parties who knew how to work mines..." One page letter, written on both sides. Folds, some toning.
