Very rare! An 1892 Columbian Exposition medal sectioned laterally with a hinge opening and shell inside that looks like it could have held a picture, lock of hair, etc. Obverse: raised scene showing Columbus and crew raising flag in jungle scene with Natives. 1492 along the bottom. Reverse: raised Exposition building with "Columbian Exposition" around the rim and 1892 at the bottom center. "Box" coins (also called "opium dollars") were so named because of the fact that many were made in China (US trade dollars were used for trade) and some thought they were being used to hide drugs.
