This six-page letter is fairly easy to read on the first pass; it is a correspondence between a Jim Brockway of Beaver, Wyoming and an Isabella "Birdie" McHenry of Exchange, Penn. Never-mind that there is no reasonable connection between the name "Isabella" and the name "Birdie" that's just the way it was back then. Jim writes for six pages of cowboy life and he covers a lot of country both literally and figuratively. This man is well educated, his spelling is damn good, and he is a bona fide Waddie. He makes reference to the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation Incident that we now know as the Wounded Knee Massacre a year and a half after the fact. Although he does not go into detail of his involvement. A must read; the letter is post marked Laramie, Wyoming Aug. 1892.
