Pass No.6, issued for Mrs. S.A. Short & Children. Dateline Glenbrook, Nev. August 9th, 1894. C.T. Bliss printed signature as manager. Season Ticket printed on pink paper. Terms and conditions on reverse. 2.5 x 4" This item was purchased from a dealer in Reno. A group of these were found in the Short Estate. JM Short (Sarah's husband) was a prominent businessman in Glenbrook. It would make sense that his family had a number of tickets to hand out to visiting guests. The Steamer Meteor was built for the Carson & Tahoe Lumber & Fluming Co. Designed by noted marine architect William R. Eckart, her steel hull was 80 feet in length, and at the time of her launch, during Thanksgiving week 1876, she was conceded to be the fastest boat on the continent, capable of a breath-taking 20 mph. Captain Ernest J. Pomin was her first skipper, followed by Captain Edmund Hunkin when Pomin assumed the helm of the Steamer Tahoe in 1896. Meteor was used primarily as a tug, towing log booms to the Glenbrook mills. The Bliss family sunk her in the lake in 1939. State: California City: Lake Tahoe Date: HWAC# 78654
