Beautiful 1913 Chinese Government 5% Gold Bearer Bond issued for 505 French Francs by the Russo-Asiatic Bank. Very nice vignettes and nice engraving job by Waterlow & Sons, Ltd., London. The Chinese government defaulted on these bonds in 1939, 21 years early. In addition to the missed dividends, the bonds are gold bonds which were priced when gold was $35 or less per ounce. This bond is being sold for it's collectible value only. The bond is a bearer bond which means that it is the property of whoever has it in possession. Condition is EF and this one is much better than the average condition on these. Would be beautiful framed. 43 Coupons are attached which is customary.
