“Eureka is now recovering from a day of terror...” says the Nevada State Journal. Two Killed and $30,000 in damage from the cloudburst in Eureka Canyon. “The water from a cloudburst in the hills came rushing into the mining town and wrecked bridges, flooded cellars and washed out streets.” Main Street was damaged and the cloudburst left huge deposits of muck and mud. Eight bridges within the city limits were washed out. Stores and garages were flooded. This all took place in an hour! The photograph on this post card was taken by Pauline Hjul. Peter (grandfather) Hjul and Charles (father) Hjul family were long time residents and merchants of Eureka.
