The seventeen silver proof coins in this set commemorate the 1984 Winter Olympic Games that were held in Sarajevo, Yugoslavia.
Two of them are commemorative US silver dollar coins, the first such commemorative dollar coins to be minted since 1900, only the second such ever, and also the first ever issued in proof condition. The other fifteen coins are denominated in Yugoslavian Dinars: five 100-dinar, five 250-dinar, and five 500-dinar denominations. Each of the 100- and 500-dinar coins portray different Olympic sporting events, while the 250-dinar coins portray historical aspects of Yugoslavia, including Josip Broz Tito. The two silver dollar coins are 39mm with 0.86 Troy ounces of 900 Fine Silver. The five 100-dinar coins are 30mm with 200.62 grains of 925 Sterling Silver. The five 250-dinar coins are 34mm with 262.34 grains of 925 Sterling Silver. The five 500-dinar coins are 38mm with 345.94 grains of 925 Sterling Silver. This adds up to approximately 9.2 Troy ounces of 999 Fine Silver for the entire set. The boxed set originally contained three 900 Fine gold coins, but these are not included in this lot. This comes from the liquidation of Northwest Territorial Mint. City: State: Date: 1984 HWAC# 79560
