Choice and classic 19th century high-quality glazed multi color ceramic water container with a brass cannon spout. The body is 13 inches tall by 13 inches in diameter at the top and 11 inches in diameter at the bottom. The lid separately is 5 inches tall and 13 inches in diameter. This choice pottery piece was handed down in a San Francisco family for three generations. It has embossed lettering and patterns all over the face. These patterns say from top to bottom "Royal, filters/royal coat of arms/George, Robin's/patent/69 S. Grand, London." Floral pattern throughout often coloring on light beige background. Dark brown accented floral patterns at top and bottom and around the edge of the top of the lid. This is clearly a choice expensive piece for a ships captain. As might be expected there are a few chips at edge places. Note inside says "taken from a British warship during the first world war. At that time it was said to be 50 years old. Dad got it in 1931. The vessel was shipwrecked somewhere near the Virgin Islands when they were still on by Denmark." in an Internet search not one single piece seen was anywhere near the condition of this piece nor as complete. Please note the canon spout. Ceramic filter in the bottom complete. State: City: Date: ID#46037
