Rarity – 6. Although not complete (see photo) they are strong and easily determined. 1) 1881. Right and left sides of postmark did not strike. Wells Fargo entire with post office cancel. Short history of Belleville and biographies of addressee JH Martin and sender Orrin Miller. Letter has interesting mining content, "went up to Clifton Mine today", "hard trip", "May Lundy Mine shut down today". 2) 1892. Legal cover with one heavy horizontal fold. Double Ring. Strike is Good. Includes two letters and two documents all relating to JH Strachan and Pahdet Canyon mining, Letters include quotes like, "…is d---d hard work", "just got back from an unsuccessful trip to borrow a few pounds of powder from McGuire", "a good body of ore opened up at 200 feet". One document is a registry receipt for Strachan at Belleville and the other is a small note that says, "This kind of ore will go at the least $500 a ton in gold". Includes a hand drawn map of the tunnel that is being discussed in the second letter. Notes on Foster (1 of 11 left at Belleville) and Strahan (superintendent of the Teel Borax Works).
