If James Cain brought this mining camp back to life, George Wingfield put it back on the map. James Cain astutely sold his mining claims to W. Lester Magnum in late 1912. Magnum sold those claims to the Goldfield Consolidated Mines Company in 1915. The Goldfield Consolidated Company was the mining arm of Nevada political boss George Wingfield. From 1914 to 1918 the Aurora Consolidated Mining Company made $1,847,940.00. Management had objections to the number of immoral activities around Aurora and created their own town which was called Mangum. This town actually grew up right next to the mill which was a few miles distant from Aurora proper. These photographs are of the mill and VERY RARE photos of the town proper! Includes a 1913 letterhead for the Aurora Ore Purchasing and Reduction Company. More notes are including a 1914 article on the "New Aurora Mill." City: Mangum, Mineral State: Nevada Date: HWAC# 99587
