This is an original 56-56 cal. Spencer carbine cartridge vintage 1860's. The Spencer carbine was one of the first repeating rifles of the Civil War era. This round is in perfect condition with enough patination to realize that the case is made of copper (not brass) and is a rim-fire. The bullet is 1.501 in. OAL. Found along the Snake River in modern times. This round and its rifle would have make its way West after the Civil War era. Date: Location: HWAC # 51162
