The first four covers all have ties to a Nevada historical figure. 1) c1870 cover addressed to John Day, Register of the Land Office in Carson City. Day will forever be remembered. One time he offered to plat a new townsite called 'Nevada City'. That name was rejected and instead was called 'Dayton.' 2) 1894 cover to Joseph Grandelmeyer. So many stories - so little time (honorary Hamilton fireman, richest man in Hamilton and perhaps Nevada, let the mills of Hamilton burn to save his wardrobe, and wrote the newspaper article "Tarantulas for Bedfellows" which was reprinted as far away as New Zealand. 3) 1899 postal from William Matson - wagon driver. 4) 1903 cover addressed to Carleton Muir (postmark on reverse). He was Mr. Hamilton and lived there long after almost everyone else had left. Nice biography of these men. 5) Nevada Lead Company advertising cover c1911. 6) 1883 cover with purple star in circle killer. 7) 1870 blue. Has oval "Agency Bank of Cala" stamp that verifies date and a blue "Advertised, June 19." Addressed to James Reed of the Donner Party at Treasure Hill. City:Hamilton, White Pine Co. State:Nevada Date:1870-1899
