Collection of various documents out of the Northern Californian Gold Region including:
1) 20x Bank Checks from Bank of La Porte, all signed by Dixon Brabban between Aug 27, 1878 and Jun 30, 1885. 2) 2x Northern Electric Railway Co. Gold Notes, 6% over 3 years on $500, Cert. #D520/#D522, 2-fold, both signed by P.M. Sims as trust officer, W.J. Murry as vice president, ass. cashier and bankruptcy cancelled on Jan 26, 1921. Very ornate green border and print, both sides. 3) Blank checks for The Bank of California and the Anglo- Californian Bank Ltd, 3 each, for 188-., both from San Francisco. 4) Stock Certificate from Pacific Gold Mining Company Early Cert.#9, issued to Wm. M. Lowden for $100 shares at $20 each Howland Flat, Sierra County, Ca. Inc. in 1883 in Howland Flat, Sierra County, CA, located in Wahoo Mining District, Sierra County, CA. Signed by president John Littich and secretary J. C. Thorp(?). Mining vignette on left. Black border and print by Bancroft, SF. Signed by Lowden on reverse, not cancelled. 5) 2x Bank Checks from Citizen Bank, #5/#9 from Dec 14 & 31, 1887. both signed by Gaylord T. Searls as treasurer. 6) 1x Pre-Stamped Envelope 4c Pony Express (1960), brown stamp with white horse and rider, unused. 7) 1x Receipt for pair of children's shoes purchased by Jas. Conlan from the Chas. P. Nathan Co. for 55 cents in Sacramento on Mar 23, 1900. 8) Half a note from the post office in Clipper Mills, Butte County, Cal in 1887, addressed to Mr. Arbucco. Dixon Brabban was part owner of the Bank of La Porte, joining Simeon Wheeler in the Bank of La Porte's ownership when he purchased the Kleckner brothers stock, where he became president. He was mason, tax collector (1883-1889) for Plumas and Lassen Counties and the portion of Sierra County north of Canyon Creek, general merchandiser (1889), and a Wells Fargo Agent (1888-1892). Brabban was also a resident and living at Secret Diggings in 1863, when he bought The Feather River and Secret Diggings Ditch from James F. Weber for $300 on October 29, 1863.
