Often referred to as the "bible" of Colt history; A History of the Colt Revolver by Haven and Belden covers the revolver story from the 1836 Paterson to 1940 autos. This is a first edition published in 1940 in bright green with gold gilding, dust jacket and slip cover. The binding is in very good condition, the dust jacket shows wear but in good condition with a chip missing, and the slip cover has been edged with binding tape at some early point. At 700 pages, complete with appendixes including the original Colt patent number 138 dated February 25, 1836 with illustrations and text. This is a significant document considering that the original Colt patent was lost in a patent office fire. Mr.'s Haven and Belden preface this book with evidence on the often counterfeited Walker revolver in search of the first prototype. No gun library is complete without this book. A part of the Harris Perlstein, former Pabst Brewing Co. Chairman, collection.
