Amber Fluid Extract/Culver's Root from AM Cole's Drug Store in Virginia City, NV c. 1870's. Cole is perhaps the most well-known of all the Comstock druggists. He operated on the Comstock for nearly 50 years. His drug store is the longest running drug store in Nevada. After coming to California during the Gold Rush, Cole made it to the Comstock in the beginning of the rush in 1860. After investing in various mining properties, he started working for FJ Schneider and then Warner & Muncton. He purchased the latter's store in 1862 with fellow VC druggist Morrill and then Schneider's store also. In 1863/64, Cole went into business with Gamble in Gold Hill, but that store closed in 1865 during the mining depression. Later, Cole was part of the effort to create the Nevada State Board of Pharmacy. He retired in 1910/11 and sold his store to Thos. Woodliff. For much more background on Cole, please see Volume One of the Nevada Bottle Book. 8.25" with glass stopper. No apparent chips or cracks. Nevada
