Donald Young Bio

Donald Young of Harrodsburg, Kentucky, was a life member
of the ANA for more than 20 years and served as both an
ANA district delegate and regional coordinator. He was a life
member and served on the boards of the Kentucky State
Numismatic Association and Token and Medal Society, and served
on the board of the Louisville Coin Club, which elected him
president in 1987. A life member of the Central States Numismatic
Society and Florida United Numismatists, he also held
membership in the Numismatic Bibliomania Society and
International Association of Silver Art Collectors.
Young began his coin collecting when in high school and
focused on medallic issues of the Society of Medalists,
Brookgreen Gardens and others. He also had one of the largest
collections of ANA convention badges and medals.

Among his many honors, Young was the recipient of the ANA's
Outstanding Club Representative award and Glenn Smedley
Memorial Award. He also was named a Numismatic Ambassador
by Numismatic News.

In bestowing its Medal of Merit on William F. Spengler,
Michael M. Stanley and Donald Young, the American Numismatic
Association presents a silver medal to each and expresses the
sincere appreciation of its members for their service.
