This is a little leather bound book titled "Speeches and Addresses by Abraham Lincoln" in green leather measuring 3 in. X 4 in. and 96 pages printed about the 1920's. The first chapter is the Famous Gettysburg Address dated November 19, 1863 that barely covers two small pages but ruminates for a century! The book includes the Emancipation Proclamation dated January 1. 1963. But the last speech is titled "Fragment on Slavery" dated July 1, 1854. This small town lawyer from Springfield, Ill. lays down this thoughts about slavery a full seven years before the Civil War begins, and lets the world know that we are "two nations" separated by inequality. Lincoln lets you know that he is anything but a "hayseed back-country lawyer" destined for the Presidency with his eloquence and pontification. If you follow President Lincoln or collect Black History you need this book. It is every bit as relevant today as it was a century and a half ago when these speeches were made. Condition is good with yellowed pages
