All pieces are marked on bottom with Acoma Sky City. 1. small flask 4.5" x 5" with holes for cord. reverse is written "Old Acoma Sky City $1.00". 2. Candle holder with rope handle. Break marks on handle, indicating it has been glued back on. 5" diameter. Bottom marking is faded/rubbed but reads "Acoma Sky City" with an illegible signature. 3. small bowl or saucer with rope edge. 5.25" diameter. Marked "Old Acoma N.M. Sky City." Acoma Pueblo is the oldest continually inhabited community in the Country and Sky City is the Pueblo's most famous village. The City was built on a 357-foot mesa reachable only by a narrow stairway, making it virtually inaccessible to enemy raids. Every authentic modern Acoma pot incorporates a shard from an old pot by grinding it up to use as temper, so when you buy an Acoma pot, you're buying a piece of history. This group represents a nice example of traditional Acoma Polychrome pottery.
