#482, issued for 100 shares in 1879 to I.S. Emory. Signed by Geo Walker as president and John S. Morris as secretary. Inc. in Maine and the company operated at Acton. There was a short silver mining boom in Maine around 1880. The Acton lode was discovered in 1878 by a Mr. Wiggins from Farmington, New Hampshire. Between 1878 and 1892, a total of 12 mines operated in the Acton mining district. Some of these mines included: Acton (later called Acton Consolidated),
Boston Acton, El Dorado, and the Portland Acton. The neighboring town of Lebanon also had 3 active mines along the same vein. In 1880, approximately 550 men worked in the Acton mining district, although a more realistic estimate would be around 200 men working along the lodes each day (info from co-pilot).
