A collection of thirteen real photographs -- five cabinet cards and eight cartes de visite -- depicting notable actors and entertainers of the mid-1800s. Many of these entertainers are contemporaries and colleagues of John Wilkes and Edwin Booth, including Maggie Mitchell, a Confederate sympathizer and close friend of John Wilkes. Two of the CDVs feature groups of 20 miniature portraits of vocalists. The photographs are mounted to cardstock in groups and are of good quality. All are labelled with the name and occupation of the pictured individual. No photographer is listed, but the photos likely originate from New York, as the archive they belonged to focuses on New York politicians. [
