Stamped "Ex Stirling" on the left side--perhaps an old collector's name? 6 x 9.5" Pinholes. In The History of the State of Colorado (Hall, 1895) William Ward is mentioned as the general manager of "the Adams Prospecting Company... of Gunnison County" (pg. 607). We find references to it in E&MJ (Vol 37-38, 1884) that confirms its location as Gunnison County. It also states that "considerable development has been done" and "another contract has been let on the Mountain Chief" (pg. 352). Later, it says the company is working on the Homestake (pg. 486).
