11" inches long miners candlestick stamped with the name "A. SCHOLDER." According to notes, this stick was used in the mines of the Adirondack Mountains. The spelling of "SCHOLDER" could also be seen as "A. SCHOLOER" do to the use of letters to spell the name. In this example, the letter "D" is backwards, giving it an appearance of an "O." According to our findings A. Scholoer was a German born immigrant who arrived in the U.S. and was brought to the area known as the Adirondacks from mining company representatives looking for immigrant labor for the mines.
