Railroad conductor's lantern made by Adams & Westlake (a.k.a. Adlake) with an intact red globe. Lantern is about 10 inches tall, 7 inches across the base, and in good condition with no dents or bends in the frame. The top of the lantern is embossed with N.P.RY, and the red globe is embossed with N.P.R.R., both meaning the Northern Pacific Railroad line which served northern Wisconsin, Minnesota, North Dakota, Montana, Idaho, and Washington. The passenger line was one of the safest in the industry with only one passenger death over a seventy-year period. For a time, the company marketed itself to cross-country tourists as the Route of the Great Big Baked Potato, serving two-to-five-pound, slow-cooked baked potatoes from the Yakima Valley. The company merged with other railroads in 1970 to form the Burlington Northern Railroad.
