A complete railroad conductor's lantern made by Adlake (Adams & Westlake) with an intact red glass globe and the kerosene tank, burner, and wick. The red glass is etched with P.E. RY just below where the letters // ADLAKE KERO // are molded into the glass. This was used by Pacific Electric Railway, which was created in 1901 by Henry E. Huntington and banker Isaias W. Hellman. A great merger with seven other lines in 1911 made Pacific Electric the largest interurban electric railway passenger service provider in the world. The railway eventually succumbed to the web of freeways that began to appear in the 1950s.
