Railroad switch lamp made by Adlake (Adams & Westlake) used to indicate the position of a railroad switch. It has four lenses, each about 5.5 inches in diameter, two blue (green) and two red. When the green side faced the train, the switch was in the straight-through position. Red indicated the switched-to-siding position. This "lamp" does not really have a light source of its own. Instead, these are doublet reflecting lenses made of numerous, ~3/8-diameter, spherical bubbles, silvered on the back, that act as retroreflectors. The reflections are quite bright and visible for considerable distances at night.
