Photos taken by The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers of the eruption of Muana Loa on the island of Hawaii on April 18, 1926. Six of the photos show the progression of the lava flow and eventually showing it cover the tiny village of Hoopuloa. More photos show the result as the lava hits the ocean and eventually cools and forms a land mass. Other photos appear to show aerial views of the north shore of Oahu, as is evidenced by the tall palisades and a shot of what appears to be Chinaman's Hat Rock. All are in good condition and measure 8"x 9" with the exception of a 1923 night shot of Kilauea that measures 5"x 7" and a photo of Hawaiian palm that measures the same. Twelve photos in all See photos for more details.
