Agustin de Iturbide was a Mexican politician and army general who was instrumental in securing the independence of Mexico in 1821. The first medal of this set is an 1822 Proclamation medal for the inauguration of Agustín de Iturbide on July 21, 1822. It has a nice early image of the Mexican eagle with a crown, struck in silver, 34mm. VF. The second medal commemorates the 1883 Centenary of the Birth of Agustin de Iturbide, the first emperor of Mexico, with his bust on the left, struck in bronze, 39mm, AU/Unc.
