This newsprint is from 1922; five pages of dirigible and balloon aircraft. Some are commercial craft while others are naval craft. Great Britain, German, and US aircraft are covered in the pictorial article. Depicted is the British R-27 one of the largest of Zeppelin type dirigible aircraft, the R-34 shown landing in the USA, several US Navy dirigibles and air balloons C-2 and a B type, and a crash scene at sea for the ZR-2 constructed by the British Government. There is a complete article of the construction of the Navy ZRS-4 (also known as the USS Akron) from 1931 by the Goodyear-Zeppelin Corp. of Akron, Ohio by Robert Smith. This airship had been plagued by accidents and crashed tail-first into the Atlantic Ocean off the New Jersey coast only three people survived. Chips missing, yellowing very readable. Please see photos for details.
