1881. Incorporated July 31, 1875. Certificate # 1078. Issued for ten shares to Philip L. Horn on Dec. 30th, 1881. Signed by S. Spiner as President. Unusual vignette of Native Americans with dog on left. According to the 1881 Report from the Director of the Mint: "At Pike City, the Alaska quartz mine is being systematically developed. On the 250-foot level, west of the shaft, a rich body of ore was discovered, which yields largely in the 20-stamp mill owned by the company" (U.S. Mint, pg. 99, 1881). Burchard's 1882 report calls this company "the only important enterprise" for Pike City (Burchard, pg. 119, 1882). Printed by Britton & Rey, SF.
