About 30-50 pages of correspondence from a miner working in Alaskan mines, likely written to his brother, Arnold. About half the pages are typed, and the other half are written in cursive, with some pages filled front and back. The highs and lows of each work season are shared, as well as his dirty secrets to making money, like working the mines after hours and pocketing what he mines. The health of the miner, his brother, his sister-in-law, and their mother are discussed in passing. Truly a riveting and personal account of the isolation, harsh winters, risks, and wins from working the Alaskan Yukon. Also included are a copy of "Through Wonderland with Lieut. Schwatka" (exploration of beauty and economic potential of Alaska), missing the back cover and half of the spine, & an agricultural report about Canada, missing both covers. Ephemera in generally good condition. See photo. Measure between 5.75x9" and 8.5x11".
