Inc. in Dakota. No. 24, issued for 1,000 shares to Albe Holmes, company president (and namesake) in Deadwood in 1889. Signed by Holmes and the secretary. Not cancelled. Black border and print with vignette of mines and mills. Lith. by John Morris Co., Chicago. 4.75 x 8.75" Holmes was one of the first to arrive in Dakota Territory, as he came in on the second stagecoach. In addition to his involvement with this company, Holmes was the superintendent of the Two Johns mine at Crow Hill, Lawrence County. He was one of the 62 cowboys to ride in Seth Bullock's Cowboy Brigade in 1905, Teddy Roosevelt's inaugural parade. According to E&MJ (1890), the company owned a mine at Carbonate, South Dakota (now a ghost town). They had a shaft 115 ft. deep.
