Alfred Dixon had a general merchandise store. You could by hardware, corkery, dry goods, tinware, tobacco, hats, etc. But most importantly if you were a miner, he would buy your gold dust! It was also the office for Wells, Fargo & Company Express. One can only imagine it was a major part of Michigan Bluff town life! Pink border card. Dison owned his store for 35 years. His principal business was supplying the mines between Michigan Bluff and Last Chance. He actually ran pack trains to deliver these supplies and the United State Mail. Dixon would also own the largest share of 'Big Gun' placer mine. [National Register of Historic Places application for the Michigan Bluff - Last Chance Trail]
