Antique Allen & Wheelock Falling Block Rifle in .42 Allen Rimfire, made circa the early 1860s in Worcester, Massachusetts. Fewer than 2, 000 of these rifles are thought to have been made in any variant.It was used by certain U.S. Militia Units during the Civil War. It is chambered in the very rare .42 Ethan Allen, later called the .42 Forehand & Wadsworth. It features a half-octagonal, half-round barrel with a very neat adjustable rear sight. The rear sight tips and its arm points to various ranges which also have notches which allow the arm to rest in under spring tension.The top of the barrel is marked ALLEN & WHEELOCK/ALLENÕS PAT.
